School Administrators to Focus on Advancing Their Leadership Skills at Administrator Summit

LAS VEGAS and PETERBOROUGH, N.H., May 23, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Baruti Kafele and Bobb Darnell, Ed.D. are among the veteran school administrators who will reveal manageable methods for success in leadership at the Administrator Summit to be held July 10, 2017, in Las Vegas. The pre-conference event will be offered in conjunction with the SDE 2017 National Conference, July 10?14, 2017, in Las Vegas, NV.

"We urge current and future building and district-level administrators who are registered for either the Differentiated Instruction strand or Teaching Math strand of this year's conference to come a day early. The insight they'll gain into advancing their leadership will produce promising results all year long," SDE program developer Kendra Fowler says.

The in-depth event will tackle administrators' greatest challenges, including school culture, instructional leadership, management, and teacher development. In addition, special sessions will offer first-hand "Principal-To-Principal" success stories presented by principals who have nurtured positive and sustained school change.

Additional session topics will include how to lead change, address staff morale, increase engagement and achievement, encourage critical thinking and deep learning opportunities for all students, create culturally responsive environments of access and equity, and maximize the power of parental involvement.

It will be a full day of high-level, administrator-to-administrator sharing with a team of distinguished speakers. Baruti Kafele is an award-winning educator and best-selling author who excelled as an urban school educator for more than 20 years and is an inspiring speaker on diversity, race, and equity. Bobb Darnell, Ed.D. has taught for 30 years and is an author and consultant to schools with a focus on conflict management and school improvement. Pete Hall, an educator of more than 10 years, began his service as a principal who transformed his school based on mission-driven leadership. Eliza Thomas has taught in all kinds of classrooms and is a well-respected expert in math instruction and sustainable school change.

"Many administrators may initially think they're too busy to attend. But they soon find that the benefits of immersing themselves in targeted leadership development far outweigh the challenges of being away from work. Getting an expert's objective perspective on their problems, developing a network of like-minded leaders to tap into later, stepping back, sorting through, reflecting?there's no better opportunity for administrators to assess where their school is going and how they're going to lead it there," Fowler adds.
