Mahoney Environmental Unveils Its New Eco-Conscious Fleet

JOLIET, Ill., May 10, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Mahoney Environmental, (www.mahoneyes.com) a leading recycler of cooking oil for over 60 years, recently unveiled its new tractor-trailer combination fleet. This new convoy order for 2017 consists initially of fifteen tractors and six trailers ? all with eco-conscious specifications. The new power equipment will be operated on a five-year life cycle.

Mahoney Environmental's new freightliner tractors and advance trailers were unveiled to the company at their 2017 Kickoff Meeting. This was the first step in Mahoney's quest for reducing their carbon footprint through efficiency of their fleet.

Mahoney Environmental's new tractor-trailer fleet is their most versatile combination yet. These lightweight, high capacity combinations give Mahoney the ability to service more customers in a shorter timeframe. This fleet was built to hold more product and improve route efficiency. The increased capacity allows for trucks to run overnight routes, picking up twice as many stops, without the need to offload as often. Mahoney Environmental is dedicated to our environment and demonstrates this through investing in a fleet that reflects that dedication. These trucks are easier on the environment with engines from Detroit Diesel supporting the latest 2017 Greenhouse Gas (GHG17) and 2016 OBD (OBD16) compliance measures. Noise levels have been reduced by over 40% during the collection process by equipping the trailers with an NVE Tri-lobe Blower. In addition to the noise reduction, the blower brings a greater eco-friendly advantage by overcoming the oil consumption, that is typical of older technology vacuum pumps, and eliminates oil vapor emissions. Mahoney Environmental's goal is to reduce their carbon footprint and provide the highest quality service to their customers while doing so. This new fleet accomplishes that by reducing fuel and oil consumption, allowing for more efficient routing and by operating in a way that is more pleasing to the eyes and ears of our global neighbors.

Jeff Corbin, Director of Maintenance and Fleet Operations at Mahoney Environmental states, "We are extremely proud of our new fleet configuration. This fleet is the result of great collaboration between all our suppliers. It truly is equipment built for Mahoney with all components functioning as if they were all built by one manufacturer. This equipment is the lightest, most versatile equipment anyone in our industry is operating today, and we take pride in investing in the well-being of our planet and are extremely proud of our world class fleet."

Mahoney Environmental is committed to continuing its carbon diet and instituting a progressive fleet replacement plan designed to replace its tractor fleet 1/5 every year, creating a five-year life cycle on all power equipment.
