Urban Communications Inc. Appoints Capital Markets Veteran, Herb Willer, to Board of Directors


VANCOUVER, British Columbia, April 06, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Urban Communications Inc. (TSX-V:UBN), one of the country's first telecommunications companies to deliver Gigabit Internet service to the home, today announced Mr. Herb Willer has been appointed to the Company's board of directors.

Mr. Willer, a CA and CPA, was previously a global partner with Arthur Andersen in charge of its Entrepreneurial Practice in Ontario.  In 2002 he commenced private equity investing with Kingsdale Capital Markets Inc, where he also was in charge of the corporate finance group.  Herb has extensive experience across a broad range of industries in areas of investment banking, strategy consulting, and private equity investing.  He is a member of the local advisory committee for the TSX Venture Exchange.

In 2003 Herb was one of the original investors and part of the founder group for Mill St. Brewery and acted as Chairman.  He was instrumental in all aspects of the growth of the business including hiring the management team, branding, raising capital, building a new production plant, and ultimately presided over a successful exit.

Herb is actively on the boards of his investee companies and has spent considerable time on hospital boards including Princess Margaret in Toronto, and is currently on the investment committee for the University Health Network in Toronto.

Mr. Willer will join the Company's audit committee as an independent director.
