Differentiated Instruction & Teaching Math Among Hot Topics Driving SDE 2017 National Conference


LAS VEGAS and PETERBOROUGH, N.H., March 28, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- There are plenty of challenges ahead for today's educators?from differentiating instruction and teaching math, to integrating technology and leading staff effectively. An upcoming Staff Development for Educators (SDE) event will provide the tools and knowledge educators need to succeed in today's accelerating environment. SDE's 2017 National Conference will be held July 10?14, 2017, in Las Vegas, NV.

More than 700 sessions will be organized in six grade- and topic-focused strands, including:  

Differentiated Instruction for K?12 educators features 200+ sessions over four days dedicated to reaching all learners and covering foundational DI, growth mindset/resilience, poverty/equity/access, assessment and interventions, and content areas. Leading the sessions will be education experts, innovators, authors, and teachers including Rick Wormeli, Jan Burkins & Kim Yaris, Robert Jackson, Tara Brown, and Jeffrey Benson.

Teaching Math offers K?5 math educators 90+ math-focused sessions over four days addressing small-group math strategies, Singapore Math, and math interventions and enrichment, among other areas. Featured presenters are Jo Boaler, Eliza Thomas, Christopher Danielson, Jessica Shumway, and Marcy Cook.

Additionally, three pre-conference events will run concurrently on July 10:  

Administrator Summit is a full-day designed for current and future building and district-level administrators. It explores school culture, instructional leadership, management, teacher leadership, and success stories presented by principals who have nurtured change. Featured speakers are Principal Baruti Kafele, Pete Hall, Bobb Darnell, Ed.D., and Eliza Thomas.

Power Up! offers K-12 educators innovative and authentic strategies to increase student creativity and engagement. Topics include the connected educator, makerspace, breakout EDU, everything Google®, global collaboration, and apps to support DI and assessment. Attendees will learn from innovation experts Josh Stumpenhorst, Nicholas Provenzano, Pernille Ripp, and Julie D. Ramsay.

New Teacher Boot Camp is a focused and strategy-driven dive into what K?5 educators really need to know to survive and thrive as a new teacher. Lori Elliott, Ed.D. will lead sessions on management, flexible grouping, rituals and routines, small-group instruction, technology integration, and more.
